Dear Squidoo users

Getting yourselves an Twitter account and then blindly following everyone you can find is not a way of generating more traffic for your Squidoo lens.
Rather, it is a way of generating anger and hatred from normally-happy and mild-mannered Twitter users who will, as a result of your stupid spammery behaviour, then go out of their way to block your Twitter account. Some of them might even write ranty blog posts about the act of blocking. Maybe those people should calm down a bit. But then again, what the hell – maybe they should be able to have a little rant about idiots-on-the-web every once in a while.
Only once in a while, though. If we posted rants about all the idiots on the web, we’d be doing it full time. Now there’s an idea for a Squidoo lens.

My advice to newbies is to just hang around, listen and watch what regulars on twitter are doing. Get to know who it is that you’re following.
If you follow randomly, to simply grow your followers, you will be in for a big surprise just as gilest has suggested above. :)
I feel real bad after reading this post about Idiots, because I think that I must be a real big one! DUH STUPID! But I will amend my ways due to this great heads up. Thanks!

Twitter is just a nice friendly water cooler. Come hang out, talk about interesting stuff, be goofy, and people will come to check you out.
Good rant! I always check out a person’s Twitter page before following them. A quick review of the history of their tweets gives you an idea of whether they’re smart about tweeting, or not…
