Anyone know any good iPhone games for kids?

Posted in Family, Tech by Giles Turnbull on November 10, 2008

Any recommendations for free or cheap iPhone games that suit 6-year-olds? My boy sometimes needs distracting or occupying for short times and the games I’ve got installed – Wurdle, Enigmo, Topple, even Jelly Car – are a bit too tricky for him to master. I need something that rewards very quickly and with minimum intellectual challenge.

My 5 yo son *loves* the Crash Bandicoot kart game. He got the hang of it really quickly as you only have to steer, and now runs my battery down every time I’m home!

Hi! I’m an iPhone games developer and my husband and I have thought about this lack of iphone games for kids as well. Although a lot of games can be played by kids maybe ago 8+, there does seem to be a lack of games that are suitable for kids a little younger.

Our first game Scratch-It is for anybody 8 and up. But we are thinking of creating a version suitable for kids 4-6 years of age. So if we do get that out, we’ll let you know!

If the link above doesn’t work, you can just search Scratch-It from the Apps Store.

The next idiot who tries to spam this page with a plug for HIS OWN APP will get named and shamed by me on cultofmac.com.

For God’s sake people, I’m looking for **recommendations**, not advertisements.

    Foons.

Matching games are great for kids. Try FlipFrog (http://tinyurl.com/ce3ano) it’s a fun little memory game where you match different frogs using colours and sounds.
