Some of my photos will be on show here. Please come along if you can.
I suspect you see a perfect circle. I see a downward spiral. I see a cascade of shit pirouetting from your penthouse office, caking each layer of management, splattering all in between.
All you young things pondering a journalism degree (or post-grad course) – read this letter, and ask yourselves how you’d cope with being asked to do ridiculous things, and write lies so that your employer can sell more newspapers.
nofinder is an iPhone photo app with no viewfinder. It's fun to play with.
I’ve started a trial period of work for TIME‘s Techland site. So far I’ve done posts on Jonathan Ive not leaving Apple, Shoefitr and fitting shoes over the web, a sneaky Twitter scam, Google zapping dodgy apps from the Android Market, Google running data parties, and how Placekitten is great. The great thing about Techland is the variety of stuff covered; everything from gadgets to comics to music to culture, there’s plenty of choice for readers and a lot of stuff to choose from.
More from me there next week.
On the beach at Folkestone, we saw the lowest tide we’ve ever seen there. Like the sea had been sucked away from the stones. Barney went exploring, as he often does, and returned proudly bearing a freshly-severed crab claw. He hadn’t severed it, mind you.
The canal lock is being repaired, a big job that’s much easier done without all that pesky water getting in the way. Walking past, I was astonished to see a temporary dam made of metal struts and plastic sheeting. Astonished because looking at it, it doesn’t look strong enough to hold a bath, let alone a canal’s worth of water at bay. The forces on that plastic must be enormous.
It’s a tense moment. There is a huge line of people behind me. I’m at the counter advising the barista of my order; a coffee for me, a latte for one friend and a vanilla latte for the other. Through Mad Men-esque thick, black rimmed glasses the barista tersely informs me that they don’t have flavors at the Intelligentsia Cafe.
Now I know. I’m not the only one who gets confused and bamboozled by all the options in your average coffee shop. When I want a coffee, I just want a coffee.
This is really handy little thing. The more I use Chrome, the more I like it.
